Larnaca Muslim Cemetery Restoration, Maintenance and Development
Caring for Larnaca Muslim Cemetery honours those who have died and supports the living community. Abu Mu’min and the Al Muazzinun Around the World team work with volunteers and donors to restore, maintain and improve its facilities while respecting graves and bereaved families.
Renewing gates and restoring boundary walls
The improvements include replacing cemetery gates and restoring boundary walls. Caring for the entrances and boundaries is part of maintaining the cemetery for visitors and the volunteer team. Ongoing maintenance remains part of this work.
A prayer space and wudu facilities
The work includes creating a prayer space and an ablution area for wudu. These facilities support mourners and those attending the funeral prayer, helping families during burial arrangements.
A modern washing facility
The team has equipped a modern facility for washing the deceased and cared for washing amenities and hot water provision. Experienced male and female volunteers assist with washing and shrouding, with dignity and privacy throughout preparation.
Cleaning and ongoing cemetery care
Volunteers have removed accumulated weeds, cacti and waste and cleaned the cemetery. This care continues with community support. The cemetery albums document the site before, during and after cleaning, with photographs and video links.
Free Muslim burial services in Cyprus
Cemetery improvements support our main work: providing Muslim burial services completely free of charge. The team assists with washing, shrouding, grave digging and preparation, funeral prayer coordination and burial. Transport within Cyprus depends on available resources and prior arrangements. A donation is never a condition of receiving help.
Shrouds and supplies donated by supporters
The Al Muazzinun shroud project provides ready-packed male and female shrouding kits purchased in Egypt, donated by supporters in memory of their loved ones and supplied subject to availability. Supporters also contribute blocks, grave-covering materials and washing supplies. A grave typically needs around 30 blocks, depending on its preparation.
How to support cemetery maintenance
You can contribute volunteer time or supplies needed by the team. Contact Abu Mu’min before purchasing or delivering materials to confirm current needs, sizes and quantities. Abu Mu’min and the team working with him represent Al Muazzinun in Cyprus.
Preserving memories and documenting care
The website holds memorial records, photographs and available grave information alongside cemetery care albums. Requests to add or correct records are reviewed by the administration before publication, respecting accuracy and family privacy.
